Timeline photo sources

I probably should acknowledge the photo sources for my timeline.
The Newgrange pictures come from www.newgrange.com and www.knowth.com

Irish Art Timeline

I've started a timeline for the Leaving Cert Irish art history section. It will be going up in the artroom later, but I thought it might be useful to post it here too. Here are the first two sections. More will follow sometime soon.

Great Timeline

I just found a great history timeline, searchable by who, what, when, where, which. Have a look under: Who - Painters, What - Arts, When - Eras, Where - Places or Which - Paintings for a start. There are links to loads of external sites for more research into any topic you want to explore.

TY t-shirts

This year's TYs are heading to Croagh Patrick in the morning partly as a team-building exercise. In preparation for the trip the group designed a logo and stenciled it onto t-shirts to wear on the day. Everyone got a chance to add some personal touches to their own work. The triangle represents the mountain and the arrows from the letters show how the TY year takes students in directions they might not go otherwise. Enjoy the climb!

I gave a list of sites to TYs today to help develop ideas for their own self portraits. A few of them might be worth examining for life drawing and art history too. Here are the details:

This is the site of the British National Portrait Gallery. This link leads to a picture of an artist and some blue links in the box beside him. There's loads of information here, have a look especially at Games (try some) and This Is Me. Experiment and have fun!

Here's another good site for lots of art areas: www.artyfactory.com
I originally found it when searching for tips for portrait drawing (www.artyfactory.com/portraits) but there are lots of other useful areas worth exploring including art history timelines and info on various artists including Francis Bacon. If you click on the arrows beside the site name you navigate from one page to the next, or click on the various icons for links to other areas of the site.

The art room is back in action for the new school year. TYs will be busy there tomorrow with a new project and some t-shirt design for their mountain climb on Monday.
